Clear Aligners There has been an increased interest over the past few years in the use of clear aligners to straighten teeth. Dr. Turley has used these aligners for over a decade and their use for straightening teeth has increased recently due to their popularity with adult patients who do not want visible braces. |
Metal Braces Today’s metal braces are smaller than ever allowing patients to feel comfortable about the way they look while in treatment. In addition, most are now bonded to the teeth in a very easy process that can usually be done in one appointment. The design of the braces, as well as the newer space-age wires, allows treatment to progress with longer intervals between appointments. Treatment used to involve heavier forces on the teeth and visits were needed every two to four weeks. Today lighter forces are used and patient visits are usually every eight to ten weeks. |

Clear Ceramic For the more aesthetic conscious patient, clear ceramic braces may be used instead of metal. Especially when used on the upper teeth (which show the most during speaking or smiling). Orthodontic treatment can often be accomplished with only a minimal increase in treatment time or number of appointments. |
Retainers Although retainers are worn after braces come off to “retain” the new alignment of teeth, active retainers may be used to correct minor irregularities in the position of the teeth. These removable braces give flexibility to patients who feel they need that option for their personal situation. |
